A Night-Out Guide for First-Time Beijing Visitor
Obviously I only recommend the very best.
Stop 1: Peking Duck for Dinner (6-8pm)
Restaurant in Chinese: 1949
Restaurant in English: 1949 Quanyaji (Sanlitun Branch)
This swanky place accepts reservation (many tourist-driven famous peking-duck restaurants in Beijing do not accept reservations, such as 全聚德/Quanjude), and is located in an elusive court yard that is hard to find even for the locals. Only friends in the know will bring you to an exclusive restaurant like this. There is a bar, a noodle restaurant, a western restaurant, and an art gallery in this hidden corner. The environment is superb with contemporary taste.
Transit to Stop 2: take a taxi to Park Hyatt Hotel
Stop 2: Bar-Hopping (8-11pm)
(Park Hyatt Hotel)
Bar #1: 秀(Xiu), 6th Floor, 010-85671108
Bar #2: 中国亮 (China Bar),65th Floor, 010-85671838
Park Hyatt Hotel is arguably the best chain hotel in Beijing with the best international crowd and celebrities. This is the place to see and be seen. Xiu is perfect for 8-11pm with the best bar crowd, a mix between locals and expats. The in-house band starts playing at around 9pm. There are five sections in Xiu and each serves a different kind of alcohol (wine, whisky... etc). It has a small dance floor, but only big enough to warm up. At around 11pm, move up to China Bar on 65th floor to enjoy the best view on Changanjie. China Bar is more quiet with a jazz band.
Transit to Stop 3: take a taxi to 工人体育场/Workers' Stadium
Stop 3: Clubbing (11-2pm)
Between these two close addresses you'll find the Base Camp for many trendy night clubs (where you dance, dance, dance) in Beijing. Located around the Workers' Stadium, they are all located right next to each other, serving local and foreign crowds from those born in the 90s to ... whoever. Just walk around this area and pick one you like. A few famous ones (they all are): Mix (has the largest dance floor in Beijing), Latte (拿铁, good party vibe), Banana (girls and Maserati), Vics Club (more mature crowd).
Transit to Stop 4: walk in 2 minutes
Stop 4: Supper (2pm onwards)
Address:
Many hard-partying crowd come here for supper or dessert after dancing for a few hours. This is a great place for people-watching or socialize with new friends. The Taiwanese food is pretty good too.
After that, it's probably time for bed.
